Terri Dichiser is a licensed clinical professional counselor and has worked extensively with families going through divorce and separation since 1998. Terri works as a divorce coach, provides co-parenting therapy and therapy for blended families. She assists people in rebuilding their lives and creating a new future. Legal processes unintentionally can increase the pain while collaborative legal processes offer a different path of reducing pain. She helps clients address concerns in new and constructive ways. She is trained and provides therapy in Polyvagal Theory, attachment theory, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, EMDR, Internal Family Systems and Compassionate Inquiry.
As a counselor, Terri incorporates the latest research on trauma, stress and the effects on the brain and body, including the effects of separation and divorce on individuals and the family. Her greatest passion is helping clients. She cares and is committed to each client.
As a mediator, she has provided mediation training and consulting services to organizations such as Sprint Corporation, The Central Exchange, University of Missouri – Columbia, Johnson County Community College, Division of Child Support Enforcement, KS Department of Aging, Office of Judicial Administration, and the Missouri Bar Association.
As an Adjunct Professor, Terri developed and delivered courses in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies at Missouri Western State University. She has taught at various universities, including the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Baker University, providing continuing education and mediation training.
Education & Associations
Terri has a master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UMKC.
She is active in numerous civic organizations, including the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Founding President of The Association of Missouri Mediators, former Vice-President/ Board member of Mediation Achieving Results for Children (MARCH), and previous arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau. Staying current on industry issues, Terri is a member of The American Counseling Association, The Kansas Counseling Association, and The American Mental Health Counselors Association. Terri’s other passions include her family, dogs, and traveling while supporting Breast Cancer Awareness.
