Mary Jane Harmless

Dr. Mary Jane Harmless is a licensed Psychologist offering individual, couples, co-parenting and family counseling in the Kansas City area. Of particular interest and practice focus, Mary Jane also serves as a Collaborative Neutral Coach and Divorce Coach, with an emphasis on helping couples and families transition through divorce: assessing and representing each party’s goals and interests, working to develop a livable Parenting Plan when applicable, assisting family members access resources and working with the couple to preserve and develop sustainable communication for effective co-parenting.

Mary Jane has corporate experience in the fields of community mental health, corrections and social expressions design and marketing. She has direct management experience overseeing staff and operations of 3 psychiatric residential facilities for children and adolescents and has worked as a clinical supervisor for counselors and psychologists in training. Mary Jane additionally offers consultation services to local and regional law firms regarding cases involving questions of a behavioral or psychological nature.

Always seeking to share and learn, she is also an educator offering seminars, classes and public forums in community, corporate and academic settings around such topics as neurodiversity, stress management, parenting and co-parenting, blended families, preventing employee burnout, embracing cultural differences and neurodiversity in the workplace and recognizing and preventing hostile work environments.

Education

Mary Jane has a Bachelor’s Degree in Design, a Master’s in Psychology and a Doctorate Degree in Counseling Psychology. She is a CASA-trained parent facilitator, trained in professional Coaching and Internal Family Systems. She is also a Certified Autism Clinical Specialist.
